The fun, romantic nature of The Bachelor/Bachelorette series is being ruined by all the “scandals” that have been cropping up. I, like many women, like to watch the show because it seems to be one of the last fairy tales left to believe in. Even if we have the nagging feeling that it isn’t totally real, we can suspend doubt on Monday nights and watch people finding love. That image is being tarnished by things like Jake and Vienna’s public meltdown. We all knew it was bound to happen, but we didn’t want it in our faces in front of the Bachelor Mansion for the whole world to see. It was a stroke of ironic genius to set that breakup special just outside of the hallowed walls of the place they “fell in love”. We did want to know, but we didn’t. And we certainly did not want to find out Jake “The Bachelor” Pavelka was capable of public temper fits volatile enough to lead us to the conclusion that he may even be capable of violence.

That was another disappointment, but mostly it just made us think he was an idiot. Last week we had to sit through one of the final three telling Ali he had to drop out because he discovered he was still in love with his old girlfriend. Those of us who read the spoilers knew that Frank was going to flake, but still…..You’re ruining the magic people!
